The good stuff is coming back

OneDay makes some of my favorite craft flower in Illinois. Seeing them at Flower Expo reminded me why it belongs on my shelf.

The return

Some brands you carry because the numbers work. Others you carry because the flower is the reason people come back. OneDay has always been the second kind for me.

We carried OneDay at my store before, and we stepped away for a while when the price got hard to make work against the rest of our flower set. That happens in this market. It doesn’t mean the flower stopped being good.

Seeing OneDay at Flower Expo put it right back in front of me, and the decision got easy. OneDay is coming back to my shelf.

The flower

OneDay’s pitch is about the plant. In the brand’s own words: “Every plant that we cultivate is a symbol of our commitment to excellence.” That’s a big claim. The flower backs it up: dense, frosty buds with real structure and color. It’s the kind of jar that makes a buyer slow down, crack the lid and actually look.

The shelf math

An Illinois buyer put the problem to me bluntly: “OneDay is fire. The issue is 90% of Illinois market doesn’t hunt for great weed. They hunt for cheap high THC.”

“OneDay is worth that effort. I’m glad it’s coming back.”

That buyer isn’t wrong about the market. A lot of Illinois shoppers walk in looking for the biggest number at the lowest price, and craft flower can get lost next to that. But that’s a reason to merchandise craft better, not a reason to skip it. The shoppers who hunt for great weed are some of the most loyal customers a store has. They notice when it’s gone, and they notice when it’s back.

Smackerz

OneDay’s Smackerz is a good example. It’s an indica-leaning Gorilla Glue x Rozay cross that OneDay describes as dark purple with bright green accents, dense and frosty, with a sweet citrus and lemon nose and a touch of pine.

The plan

This time I want OneDay set up to win: the right sizes, a price point that lands, and budtenders who can explain what makes the jar different. Craft sells when someone at the counter can tell its story.
